Saving Kamen Rider Museum
Ishimori Production Inc., owner of the rights to works by Shotaro Ishinomori, is releasing five limited-edition T-shirts to help rebuild the Ishinomori Manga Museum. The T-shirts feature designs based on original illustrations from Ishinomori’s works, such as “Cyborg 009,” “Kamen Rider,” “Himitsu Sentai Goranger”, “Kikaider” and “Robocon”. Each design comes with a handwritten message that says: “Imakoso Minna ga Hitotsu ni Naru Toki” (今こそ みんながひとつになる時, Now is the time we must become one).
The Ishinomori Manga Museum in Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture, aka Ishinomaki Mangattan Museum, is one of many museums in the Tohoku region that were damaged by the March 11 Great East Japan Earthquake. It was established in 2001 by the central and the Ishinomaki city governments in honor of manga culture and the works of the “Kamen Rider” creator, who was born in the prefecture. Run by Machizukuri Manbo, the private museum had been a popular sightseeing spot.
