The Spicy Origins of Prince Vegeta
Croatian food manufacturer Podravka’s signature product Vegeta, a blend of cooking spices, has an unlikely internet foe : Prince Vegeta, hero of “Dragon Ball,” authored by Akira Toriyama.
But Podravka’s legal advisers are not even thinking of waging a war against the popular character. Dragon Ball does not affect the reputation and the sales of Vegeta,” says Podravka’s spokesperson.

Vegeta, not transformed by Buu
As early as in 1958, a professor named Zlata Bartl made a kind of seasoning called Vegeta at a lab of Prodravka Company in Koprivnica, a charming small town in North Croatia. Vegeta was popular to both chefs and housewives. At that time, there was a catchword about Vegeta when people were cooking: “……and a spoonful of Vegeta“, which could reflect the popularity of it. Nowadays, Vegeta has been used as a seasoning by international gourmet chefs and is sold in 40 countries and regions.
