…NHK sent the crew of “Tokyo Kawaii TV” to Paris last month. “We went to Paris to try and break into the capital of modern fashion and see how ‘kawaii fashion’ would be taken there,” said director Kaori Kaiho.

…NHK — which has something of a reputation for conservatism — first focused on youth fashion in its special program “Tokyo Kawaii Wars” in September 2006. Featured on the program was the craze of the Tokyo Girls Collection, a fashion show event that started in 2005.
