Madoff Scheme of Melt-sama -Tower of Druaga ~SoU E03
Bernard Madoff
Bernard Madoff, a quiet force on Wall Street for decades, was arrested and charged on Thursday with allegedly running a $50 billion “Ponzi scheme” in what may rank among the biggest fraud cases ever.
The former chairman of the Nasdaq Stock Market is best known as the founder of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC, the closely-held market-making firm he launched in 1960. But he also ran a hedge fund that U.S. prosecutors said racked up $50 billion of fraudulent losses.
Madoff told senior employees of his firm on Wednesday that “it’s all just one big lie” and that it was “basically, a giant Ponzi scheme,” with estimated investor losses of about $50 billion, according to the U.S. Attorney’s criminal complaint against him.
Madoff faces up to 20 years in jail and a $5 million fine if convicted. His lawyer, Dan Horwitz, said his client was “a person of integrity“. He intends to fight to get through this unfortunate event.”

Ponzi scheme/Nezumikō/Pyramid scheme
Nezumikō (ネズミ講;鼠講 ねずみこう Rat Mutual assistance association )
A Ponzi scheme is a fraudulent investment operation that pays returns to investors out of the money paid by subsequent investors rather than from profit. The term, “Ponzi scheme,” is used primarily in the United States, while other English-speaking countries do not distinguish colloquially between this scheme and other pyramid schemes.

I was amazed by the references in that last episode! The obvious Madoff-parallel made me laugh my socks off, as did the Shawshank Redemption rant
(that avalanche stuff could be a 24 parody, though I never watched that series)
Good development in any case, I feared the second season was going to get extremely boring.
Oh, two side notes though, one, Madoff is still peanuts as compared to subsequent US government policies or Yeltsin’s garage sale. The Golden Knights leader giving Melt a permission to conduct a Ponzi scheme is perhaps a reference as to where the biggest crooks are to be found.
Two, our current banking system is one big ponzi scheme as well, only in this case it is called ‘fractional reserve’.
Madoff is my (2008 Xmas) Hero
